  • Peckish

    Westland

Jellyfish Pictures recently completed work on a 30-second commercial for horticultural company, Westland, collaborating with The Mob Film Co and creative agency TBWA\Manchester.

The Jellyfish team was asked to develop a selection of photo-real CG feathered garden birds for ‘Peckish’, a wild bird food and products range. The concept, Peckish bird seed is so popular, it literally leads to birds queuing around the block to reach the best bird tables in the neighbourhood, the tables that serve Peckish bird seed.

An intricate feather system was developed to allow individual feathers to move realistically with the birds’ carefully designed rigs and actions. Species accurate textures were added and the final birds were lit and comped into the live action garden backplates by the team.

We were excited to take on the challenge of creating such realistic bird models and succeeded in ensuring that the animation was equally as realistic in mimicking the wonderfully twitchy movements of our garden birds. Voiced by 'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas, these birds took on a life of their own on screen.

The commercial will transmit across ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky Channels from 7th November, 2011.
