Pickles
Impossible Pictures/ ITV1 Dir. Gavin Millar

The 1966 World Cup had a rather unusual hero off the field, a dog called Pickles. In the build up to the tournament the Jules Rimet trophy was stolen from an exhibition display. A nation wide hunt for the icon ensued. It was later discovered wrapped in some newspaper as the dog sniffed under some bushes in London.
This film follows the story of Pickles and his family as they follow the drama on screen of England’s progress through the world cup, but are increasingly disheartened when they discover the trophy has been stolen and the winners may not have a cup to celebrate with. Pickles and ten year old girl Sammy are on a mission, they resolve to find the cup, claim the reward to solve her parents’ financial problems, and prove to everyone that football isn’t just for boys.. The film features a cast of animals as well as Pickles all given the talking treatment again by the crew at Jellyfish.
